It’s “Twilight Time” in Forks, Washington. As the popularity of four best selling novels by Stephanie Meyer continues and a second movie release is expected November 21st, the Olympic Peninsula Explorers will host 5K and 10K walks in Forks, Wa., Saturday November 14, 2009. The walks (rated 1) will begin at the Transit Center on the corner of Forks Ave. (Highway 101) and E St. Start from 9AM to 1PM, finish by 4PM.
A red wooden apple magnet award for walking the event is available for $6.00 including IVV credit. The event qualifies for AVA Special Programs including: Fire Houses, Authors & Literary Landmarks and Railroad Heritage. Washington State Challenges include Clallam County, and Art-Murals.
The walk takes you by the Forks High School where Bella met Edward (her first vampire), near the Thriftway Store where she shopped and the Forks Outfitters. You will also pass the Forks Hospital where Dr. Cullen worked in the emergency room – watch for Dr. Cullen’s parking spot! Continuing along city streets the walk takes you past the Forks Police Station where Bella’s father, Charlie Swan, is the Chief of Police. There are many shops and photo opportunities all along the route as well as many places offering tempting snacks and meals.
Located just a few miles north of the Hoh Rainforest be sure to bring your umbrellas.
