Slip 'n Slide

The Evergreen Wanderers Volkssport Club and the Iron Horse Inn B&B sponsor this annual slip 'n slide Saturday and Sunday on the John Wayne Trail. Start from the Iron Horse Inn Bed and Breakfast in South Cle Elum and either snow shoe or cross country ski (or both) 10K routes on the trail.  Hopefully there will be plenty of snow to enjoy.  The snow shoe and X-country routes go in opposite directions on the trail.  Event starts between 9am and noon either day, and you must be off the trail by 3pm.

Bring your own snowshoes or X-country skis.  Rentals are available at REI, but not in Cle Elum.  If there's not enough snow, bring your "yak traks" and walk the routes.

The walks are free, but IVV credit costs $3.

Chuck Repik will give free lessons on either method.  He advises narrow snow shoes if you're going to do the snow shoe route.

Make reservations at the Iron Horse Inn to stay the night.  Call 509-674-5939, or www.ironhorsebb.com.  Plenty of eateries in Cle Elum to warm up afterwards.
