History Book 2007-2009

The History Challenge is the last topic in the Town & Trail program.  The book challenges you to complete seven volkswalks or other volkssport events in each of the four categories:

Monuments, Cemeteries, Museums and places on the National Historic Register for a total of 28 events.   A completed book entitles you to a 6”x6”, full-color patch with a purple border.

To qualify for one of these categories an event route must go by a

• Monument,
• House or building on the National Historic Register,
• Museum
• Alongside or through a cemetery.

A given event may only be stamped under one category even if it is designated for several.  If it is a YRE or seasonal and you rewalk the event in a different six-month period, you may use the stamp for another category.  You may count a given event again in the same category only if you complete the event in a different year. 

Regular events, YREs or seasonals all count, including bikes, cross-country skis, swims or other volkssport events, as long as the event has an official IVV stamp.  You must pay for credit for the event and fill out a start card.

The books must be filled with IVV stamps only (no write-ins). Insert pages may be used.

When you finish a walk or other volkssport event, you can get stamps in your History book at the same time as you get stamps in your regular IVV Event and Distance books as well as any other ESVA or AVA challenge books that qualify.
  
The $8 cost of the book includes your book, postage and your patch award.  The cost is paid up front when you order your book.  The patch award will be sent to you when you mail in the completed book.  No refunds will be given.

In order for an event to qualify for a category (such as Museums) the sponsoring club must designate the event for that category in the NW Pathfinder, in their brochure, on the challenge section of the ESVA website or at the event itself.
