Langley YRE Group Walk
NW Tulip Trekkers group walk of their new Langley YRE
On January 2, 2010, 23 NW Tulip Trekkers, my daughter Elisabeth and I walked the new Langley YRE on Whidbey Island. Langley has long been a favorite town of my daughter and me with its cute shops and scenic views of the sound across to Camano Island. So we were happy to hear of this new walk. Ellen Calahan and Jim Tompkins saw us at the Capitol walk in December and invited us to join them. We had a beautiful day for a crisp winter walk. The walk normally starts at the Star Market, but with the group this size, we started the walk at Useless Bay Coffee on the street behind the Star Market.
Be prepared to start off almost right away walking uphill to the cemetery. If you're looking for challenges, this is the walk for you. You'll go by a fire station, police station, library, veteran's memorial, bakery, farmland, galleries and something that has to do with artistic heritage. You'll walk down to the pier and then back up hill to go along the main street.
We finished it off with lunch at a local restaurant. If you have a chance -- do this walk!
